About Stranded Colorwork: beginning techniques
This class is for the knitter who has tried stranded colorwork a few times but is not quite sure about the technique. This knitter doesn’t feel experienced enough to move to Next Steps and just needs a safe place to ask beginner questions…and maybe a little nudge to feel more comfortable. We answer those questions while we look at holding the yarns in two hands (they don’t twist in two hands), getting better tension (tips and tricks), and swatching for stranded colorwork (because swatches are different with two colors).
Required skills: familiar, but not comfortable with stranded knitting
The capacity for this class is 15 students.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
2 colors...one light , one dark of worsted or DK weight yarn...solid color, no novelty
2-24" circular needles OR 1-32" circular needle OR 1–16” circular needles OR 1 set double pointed needles in appropriate size for yarn selected.

Varian Brandon
Varian Brandon started knitting at age eight. A trip to the islands of Great Britain rekindled a love of color and created an interest in the traditions of Fair Isle design and construction. She is currently designing stranded colorwork patterns for several yarn companies, as well as her own website.
