Artist Talk with Sarah Spillers

About Artist Talk with Sarah Spillers

In this talk, Sarah Spillers will share her journey into creating inflatables, focusing on the fabrics she works with and the sources for those materials. She will discuss her deep knowledge of nylon—how different types influence the look and feel of her pieces, as well as the tests she has conducted to better understand the medium.

Sarah will also reflect on the challenges of working with inflatables, the problems she is currently tackling, and her techniques for painting on nylon. She will highlight how humor shapes her practice, walk through her processes of pattern development and assembly, and share the artists who inspire her. The talk will conclude with a look ahead at Sarah’s future plans and the new directions she hopes to explore.
