Our Technology

Recognizing audio and video quality as a crucial element to online music lessons, we tested 19 different video chat solutions, many of them more than once. Early on, we decided not to build in-house; we'll be light with the jargon, but in short, commercially developed video chat worked much better in terms of echo cancellation, tonal range, latency, and user interface

The video chat platform we've integrated into Lessonface rates well on those elements, and is super cross-platform compatible, including mobile devices.

It also supports screen sharing, document sharing, and in-lesson chat. In tests it was able to handle bass notes like a charm, and the video has a very natural feel, even on connections that are less than ideal. Good connections often enjoy very little latency.

The tech supports multiple streams at once, so you can get fancy with different set-ups and camera angles if you like.

Video chat is a rapidly developing technology, and we're shooting to stay at the head of the curve. So enjoy it, but also expect to see changes from time to time. We'll let you know if there's anything major.

And it is worth mentioning that all of this is not to say it works perfectly all the time. But we are here to help you get set up for your lesson, and we feel pretty dang good about this learning experience.
