Introductory Sewn Books

Introductory Sewn Books with Anne Murray

This class introduces several relatively simple sewn bindings where the stitching is a decorative element. There will also be options for variations on each stitching style covered. Four styles will be covered: Pamphlet stitch with 3 variations; Japanese stab binding with 2 variations; French Linked stitch with one variation; and LongStitch. A complete materials kit will make this easy to get started - create 6-8 beautiful and functional books to keep or give away!

This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Participants should enroll at least two weeks before start to ensure materials kits arrive in time. If registering after this point, your kit may arrive after the first session. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.
