Sing and Strum: Traditional Folk Song with Guitar with Susan Pepper

Singing while accompanying yourself can be fulfilling like nothing else--this class is designed to inspire you in this practice! Explore compelling Appalachian folk songs and ballads that sound good with guitar. ""Sing and strum"" will help you strengthen and gain confidence in your own singing voice, expand your folk song repertoire and also introduce you to traditional artists from Southern Appalachia and beyond. We will learn a few traditional songs at each weekly meeting and focus on singing technique. Instruction will be by ear. Lyric sheets with chords will be provided. Mixed level class, however students are encouraged to attend class knowing their basic chords in C, D, G, and A as well as a handful of songs.

This class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Class capacity is 12 students. Registration closes on October 17, 2023. Students are invited to attend a large group Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various classes online.
