Woven Sashiko-ori Sampler - Koginzashi style
Woven Sashiko-ori Sampler - Koginzashi style with Phyllis Miller
Learn Koginzashi, one of the three main styles of sashiko-ori weaving. Instead of stitching, weave patterns in three different threadings and see the pattern emerge as you go and experiment with pattern yarns of various sizes and colors. Plan on having a set of mug rugs or three samplers when you’re done.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.

Phyllis Miller
Phyllis Miller discovered weaving in 1968, and her curiosity led her to explore many weaving techniques and structures. She has exhibited in New York City, throughout the Southeast, and in Minnesota. Her interest in Japanese sashiko-ori grew from an appreciation of the rich tradition of Japanese textiles and their patterns.
