Beginning Inkle Weaving with Angela Schneider
Learn to weave on the simple, portable inkle loom! Inkles - narrow woven bands - have dozens of applications including straps, handles, belts, and trim. Make custom coordinating bands to go with your other creations!
In this course, learn to read a pattern, set up the loom, and weave well before moving on to creating your own designs and weaving pickup patterns.
This class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Class capacity is 15 students. Registration closes on January 2, 2024. Students are invited to attend a large group Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various classes online.
Class Materials
Inkle loom; belt shuttle; sewing gauge or small ruler; colored pencils; tapestry needle.
Smooth, strong yarn such as pearl (mercerized) cotton, size 3/2 or 5/2 (may be labeled 3 or 5), 8/4 cotton carpet warp, or crochet cotton size 5: 3-5 colors, 20-50 yd each.
Additional yarn of cord for heddles, 10 yd

The class will meet for four weekly 120-min live online sessions on Wednesdays at 7 pm ET | 4 pm PT | 23:00 UTC on the schedule below. The first session is on January 10.

Refund Policy: To cancel an enrollment or request a refund, contact [email protected]. For 30+ days before, we refund 95%. Between 30 and 5 days, receive a 75% refund. No refunds within 5 days of class start date. Materials kit fees are non-refundable.

Angela Schneider
Angela Schneider is a weaver, spinner, knitter, and enthusiast for all textile structures from the common to the esoteric. She has degrees in engineering, math, and art, and a Master Spinner certificate from Olds College, Alberta. Angela worked in the tech industry as a programmer, network engineer, and trainer, and is now the Project Editor for Long Thread Media.
