Ice Dye for Fabulous Fabrics with Geri Forkner
Need a new rabbit hole to jump down? Ice dyeing is addictive and a great way to upcycle your garments, napkins, pillow cases, fat quarters, and more. Using simple household supplies and the proper dyes, you will learn the basic principles of using ice to take tie dyeing to a whole new level. Cut through the overwhelming amount of information on the internet for a starting place then the sky is the limit.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.

2 - 5 pounds.
bag of crushed ice, several cardboard strips cut from packing box (4" x length of box), clips to hold cardboard strips, drying/cooling racks, one gallon container with lid, large vessel for soaking garments, tray large enough to hold baking racks (cat litter box size for example), rubber bands, strong string, scissors, apron. Gloves, and masks are NOT optional.
100% cotton items to dye. Plan to dye two or three items in this class: Tee shirts white or light colored, shirt, linen or cotton napkins, dish towels, pillow case.

Geri Forkner
Geri creates mixed media art from her studio in Tennessee, teaches internationally, and her winning art is in museum collections. She was awarded an Appalachian Craft and Culture Fellowship at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and has taught at John Campbell Folk School for 19 years.
