Propose A Group Class FAQ

When does Lessonface accept group class proposals?

We add group classes to our schedule on a rolling basis, with priority consideration given to proposals submitted further in advance of the class start date.

Why should I teach a group class? And, how many proposals should I submit?

In group classes, students can explore topics of interest with a community of their peers, and typically a more accessible rate, and teachers can amplify their reach, a win-win. Group classes can be a good way to meet students to add to your Lessonface studio for private lessons, and to foster community for the students already in your Lessonface studio. We ask that teachers who have not yet taught a successful group class on Lessonface submit only one class proposal every six months. Once you have taught a successful group class, we welcome additional proposals.

What are the group class formats available, and how do they work?

Group Classes can have one session or multiple. The 'standard' group class has a clear start and end date, and can be introductory courses or more advanced, targeted explorations of subjects. Classes are typically capped. Teachers propose their topics, timing, and class details. The fee structure for group classes changed in December 2023. View the Lessonface fee structure for group classes. Propose a group class.

Lessonface's Sponsored classes offer a flat rate to the teacher, and typically will have a larger marketing budget, as this structure allows Lessonface to be more creative with pricing and marketing - the classes may even be free. The sponsorship may come from Lessonface, or from another brand. If you have a brand endorsement that may be a great route to a sponsored class. Reach out directly to marketing@lessonface.com or with a proposal to let us know if you have ideas or contacts for sponsorship.

LESSONFEST is a weeklong extravaganza of sponsored classes that are free to students. Each class is just one session. LESSONFEST classes are intended to introduce more students to teachers through exploration of many different topics that lead to more Lessonface activities, like private lessons and group classes. The next LESSONFEST will be July 7-13, 2024.

Ongoing classes Group classes can become ongoing classes, given sufficient student (and teacher!) interest. Students sign up for a month at a time, or subscribe to regularly monthly payments. Each month, considered 4 weeks, is the same fee to students, usually between $59-99/month. Ongoing classes are a great way to keep momentum rolling with a cohort of students from a successful class, or for creating a 'studio' class where a teacher's students can meet regularly for feedback and community building. If you would like to offer an ongoing class, let us know in the Group Class Series Proposal form. The fee structure is the same as standard group classes. View the fee structure.

What day of the week and time of day are best for group classes?

We want to work with your schedule. If there are times that are ideal for you, or you know would be ideal for your student audience, we accept proposals all around the week and clock. In our experience, ideal times for adult classes are between 7-10 pm ET, and for kids' classes between 5-8 pm ET on weekday afternoons, or during the day on the weekend for either population.

When do I receive payment for teaching a group class?

Payments to teachers for group classes are made on Fridays following the class.

How do I submit a successful proposal?

Submit a group class proposal that is as specific and complete as you can make it, and as much ahead of the start date as possible, with a minimum of 2 months notice. To encourage proposals and enrollments in advance, Lessonface may offer an early enrollment discount to students. Classes may be cancelled if fewer than 5 students enroll; teachers and students will be notified with at least three days notice if the class will be cancelled.
