Tips for Profile Photos

We want your profile looking as awesome and approachable as possible for students, so here are some guidelines we put together for helping you take and choose your profile photo.

We hope they’re helpful!

  • Clear, professional-looking (it doesn’t have to be a professional photo, however!)

  • Make sure your whole face is in the photo.
  • A wide-eyed photo with a big smile tends to work best for attracting students.
  • Wear solid colors.

  • No selfies, please. (Use the timer on your phone, or phone a friend!)

  • You should be the only person in the photo (but pets in the picture are fine!)

  • Sunglasses are cool, but please remove them for profile photos.

  • Not too far away but not too close-- generally, a shoulders/waist up photo is fine for language teachers and academic tutors. If you’re a musician, you’ll probably have a photo with the instrument you play.

  • Black and white photos are okay, as long as you still seem friendly and approachable!

Here are two profiles with photos that meet the above criteria:

Yonit Spiegelman: https://www.lessonface.com/instructor/yonit-spiegelman

Daniela Busciglio: https://www.lessonface.com/instructor/daniela-busciglio

If you have trouble selecting a photo or uploading one, feel free to send a few to [email protected] and we’ll be more than happy to help you pick the best one and get it uploaded properly!
