Lessonfest: June 12-18, 2022

Hi Lessonface students, prospective students, and teachers!

Lessonface is hosting a weeklong festival of online classes and activities June 12-18, 2022, and you're invited!

Lessonfest features over forty classes taught by phenomenal instructors in music, visual arts, languages, baking, and more.  It’s the perfect chance to kick off a learning-filled summer and to try your hand at various subjects and instruments.  Who knows what special talents you have waiting to be uncovered!  Most classes are free and a few charge a small fee.  Enrollment is limited, so be sure to sign up ahead of time for the classes that interest you.

Below is a brief overview of the sorts of classes offered.  Browse the full schedule and enroll in the activities that interest you at Lessonface.com/Lessonfest.  See you there!

Guitarists of all levels can try out a new style in our line-up of rock, classical, flamenco, and improvisation classes.  Art of Fingerstyle Guitar with Wannamaker Lewis is a great opportunity to explore right hand technique and turn your guitar into an orchestra.  Newcomers to the instrument can learn the basics in Beginner Guitar and Guitar Fundamentals.

Pianists looking for inspiration should check out Beginner Piano for Adults (Level One and Level Two) with Beverly Cashin. If you’re looking to shore up a specific skill, try out classes in reading music, playing lead sheets, and Chord Playing for Pop & Rock Piano.

Singers are invited to develop their instrument in classes focusing on finding your voice and improving singing technique.  Susan Pepper of the John C. Campbell Folk School offers an interactive workshop exploring the music of Appalachia called Singing Mountain Songs for the Soul.

For band or orchestra musicians, our schedule features three flute classes, classes for saxophonists and brass players, and a live interview with MET Orchestra Associate Principal Harpist Mariko Anraku.

Just for kids, we’re offering six free classes in piano, Loog guitar, and general music.  Beginners can learn finger-strengthening exercises on piano, reading music for any instrument, and Loog guitar in a free group class.  Budding songwriters should check out Composition for Kids (any instrument) and Loog rockstars with some experience are invited to Classical Loog Guitar.  Young musicians are also welcome to enroll in Lessonfest classes and activities labeled ‘all ages’.

Haven’t seen the instrument of your dreams listed yet?  Find out if composing is your special talent in Composing Electronic Music with GarageBand with Jennifer Rose.  You can improve your general musicianship in Ear Training and Introduction to Rhythm and Counting.

We have a special line-up of Bluegrass classes, including two low-fee classes taught by Mike Mitchell in Twin and Triple Fiddling and Beginner Clawhammer Banjo.

We also have classes for foodies, dancers, visual artists, and linguists!  Learn how to draw your favorite furry friend in Drawing Pet Portraits and start learning a new language in Beginner Spanish for Adults.  The John C. Campbell Folk School offers Biscuit Basics (low fee) and Freestyle Flatfoot Clogging, among other activities.
We’re excited to meet you at Lessonfest!

We hope you’ll seize the opportunity to learn a new skill, jumpstart a unique hobby, or take life-long passion to the next level.  Learn more, browse the schedule, and enroll in the activities that interest you at Lessonface.com/Lessonfest.
