Matthew is an excellent instructor. Very patient and really customizes the lessons to your particular interests and style of learning. He is really good at noticing areas that are working well and where improvement can be made in a friendly manner. He does gentle nudges vs a judgement approach. He makes learning fun and I've seen definite progress compared to all other methods or teachers I have tried in past. I highly recommend Matthew. 10/10 stars.

My 12 year old son is new to piano and he and he wasn't necessarily excited about starting lessons, and is generally reluctant to practice. Elizabeth has been very engaging and fun, and has incorporated songs that HE picks so that he is more interested/even practicing on his own. She also has been teaching my younger son for a year, and we are pleasantly surprised how much he has learned in a year. My favorite thing about her is that she is really good about including extra materials, lessons, songs, theory, concepts, etc, not in the lesson books, so that they learn about music, just not how to sight read. She also breaks down music and teaches chords within songs. She encourages improvising and composing their own music as well. I wish she had been my teacher back in the 80's!
